In a surprising turn of events, a school kid in China ran away from home after arguing with his parents about homework. He left a goodbye note before leaving his house in the middle of the night. The Chinese media reported the incident on September 20. The goodbye note left by the 11-year-old kid is now going viral in China, sparking debates about the academic pressure faced by children in the nation.

In the goodbye note, the unidentified kid wrote that he wanted to experience the hardships of the outside world and would come back in a few days. The boyโ€™s not has amused many on social media. Some called him a brave and strong-minded person while others pointed out the existing academic stress in the schools.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the kid from Shanghai promised his parents that he would catch up on missed homework after he came home. In the note, he also said that he had hidden his phone at home for unknown reasons. The runaway kidโ€™s parents reported the incident to the police in the morning after discovering the goodbye note.

The boy was seen carrying a bedsheet while taking the subway in the public video surveillance footage. The kid was found in a shopping mall by the police after a day he ran away. A police officer surnamed Wu, told the media that the boy left home after arguing with his parents over homework, as reported by South China Morning Post.

The note is now gaining attention from mainland social media. โ€œHe is quite a brave and independent-minded boy,โ€ said one person on Weibo, a social media platform as quoted by the report of SCMP. Others applauded the strong self-control of the child even after taking this drastic step.

This viral incident has underlined the amount of pressure Chinese children are under to excel in school. One of the users posted on Douyin, a Chinese version of TikTok, โ€œKids now only have a mountain of homework and nowhere to have.โ€ According to several social media users, school kids in China are not allowed to play outside after school hours due to tons of tasks given by the school and their parents. They canโ€™t even rest during the weekends.
