In a surprising turn of events, a school kid in China ran away from home after arguing with his parents about homework. He left a goodbye note before leaving his house in the middle of the night. The Chinese media reported the incident on September 20. The goodbye note left by the 11-year-old kid is now going viral in China, sparking debates about the academic pressure faced by children in the nation.

According to a report by the South China Morning Post, the kid from Shanghai promised his parents that he would catch up on missed homework after he came home. In the note, he also said that he had hidden his phone at home for unknown reasons. The runaway kidโs parents reported the incident to the police in the morning after discovering the goodbye note.

This viral incident has underlined the amount of pressure Chinese children are under to excel in school. One of the users posted on Douyin, a Chinese version of TikTok, โKids now only have a mountain of homework and nowhere to have.โ According to several social media users, school kids in China are not allowed to play outside after school hours due to tons of tasks given by the school and their parents. They canโt even rest during the weekends.
