Targets were defeated in the first round at the Swiss Open.
India’s young badminton player Lakshya Sen has reached the quarter-finals of the Men’s Singles in the All England Badminton Tournament. The 19-year target became the youngest Indian player to reach the final-8 of this tournament. In the pre-quarterfinals, the target beat France’s Thomas Roxel 21-18 21-17.
Lakshya could not play in the Lorx tournament last year as his father was Corona positive. After this, he also stayed away from Thailand Open this year due to a back injury. Earlier this month, he took part in the Swiss Open but lost in the first round against World No-2 Viktor Axelsen.
Defeated World No-18 in the first round
Lakshya defeated world number 18 Kantaphon Wangcharoen in the first round of the All England Badminant tournament. Goal had made it 21-18, 21-12 in 49 minutes. In the second round match, they defeated the French opponent in 53 minutes. In the first game, both players were 18-18 at one time. But, the goal won the game three consecutive points from here. A goal in the second game did not let Roxell even once.
Lost to hs pranay no-1
In another match of the second rounder, India’s HS Prannoy had to face defeat. He was beaten by No. 1 player Kento Mometo 21–15, 21–14. At the same time, India’s pair of Satwiksairaj and Ashwini Ponnappa also lost out in mixed doubles. They were defeated by Yuki Kaneko and Misaki Matsutomo of Japan 21–19, 21–19 in 35 minutes. In the women’s singles, fifth seed PV Sindhu is to compete against Denmark’s Christophersen line.
