On the first day of the summit, India’s G20 Presidency saw a major success as Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday announced the launch of the India-Middle East-Europe mega economic corridor. The initiative involves India, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, the European Union, France, Italy, Germany and the US. Meanwhile, the African Union was also accepted as a permanent member of the summit before the G20 adopted a consensus declaration on issues faced by the bloc.
