Asia Cup 2023: India Win Toss and Opt to Bat First Against Hosts Sri Lanka in Super 4 – News18

India take on Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 encounter in the Asian Cup 2023 at the Premadasa in Colombo on Tuesday.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma won the toss against hosts Sri Lanka and opted to bat first on Tuesday.

India registered a thumping 228-run win over Pakistan on Monday to win their opening Sper 4 game, before taking on the hosts, who had also triumphed in their first Super 4 game against Bangladesh.

The Indians are placed higher on the table as compared to the hosts, who also have the same number of points as the men in blue, thanks to Rohit Sharma and Co.’s superior net run rate following the mammoth win.

India posted a huge 356 runs riding on incredible tons from both Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, who made unbeaten 122 and 111 runs against the neighbours. Skipper Rohit opened the innings with a well-made half-century, alongside Shubman Gill, who also crossed the 50-run threshold.

The game, originally scheduled on Sunday, was pushed to the reserve day due to rain at the Premadasa Stadium, as Kohli and Rahul carried their settled touch into Monday to come up with a big score.
