Kevin Feige Praises The Marvels Director Nia Dacosta, Says She ‘Is A Fountain Of Ideas’ – News18

Nia DaCosta is the youngest director to direct a Marvel film.

Kevin Feige said Nia DaCosta would spend time in between setups pitching him other movies and ideas.

The Marvels will bring to screens the power-packed trio of Captain Marvel, Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau, in a lightning team-up, all set to take down a mighty Kree enemy. Directed by Nia DaCosta, The Marvels will be her first-ever superhero film. This also makes her the youngest director to direct a Marvel film, surpassing Ryan Coogler (Black Panther 2018). Long-time franchise producer Kevin Feige recently spoke about collaborating with Nia for The Marvels.

Marvel Studios’ Vice-President Kevin Feige initially recognized DaCosta’s Indie feature film before getting her on board to direct The Marvels. Sharing his initial impression of her feature film, he said “We were just very impressed with her indie cred—and her nerd cred.” On his collaboration with the young director, Kevin added “She works nonstop and is a fountain of ideas. She would spend time in between setups pitching me other movies and other ideas and other stories, because that’s the way her mind works.”

Dia DaCosta also admitted to “grinding” herself to create a wholesome sequel to an enormous hit like Captain Marvel. As she awaits the release of The Marvels in November, DaCosta has decamped from social media as the anticipation builds to the highly-awaited theatrical release.

Starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, Teyonah Parris and Samuel O Jackson in pivotal roles, Marvel Studios’ The Marvels also features Seo-Jun Park and Zawe Ashton. The film will mark Seo-Jun Park’s debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Producer Mary Livanos revealed, “He’s a definite ally to Carol Danvers. Someone from her past that is meaningful as a friend to her, and so he and his people are important to Carol.” Director Nia DaCosta added, “His character is really awesome, and [it’s] really fun when you realise his relationship to our hero.”

The Marvels will be released in theatres across India, this Diwali in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
