Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said he met 85 world leaders in the past 30 days as he highlighted the “speed and scale” of New India.
Speaking at the G20 University Connect Finale in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said India’s diplomacy has reached new heights in the last 30 days.
He also asserted that the decisions taken at the G20 Summit have the capability to change the direction of the 21st century.
“I want to give you a recap of the last 30 days. That will give you an idea of the speed and scale of New India. You must remember the 23rd of August…Everyone was praying and then suddenly there was a smile on everyone’s face. The entire world heard India’s voice – India is on the Moon. 23rd August has become immortal in the country as National Sports Day. But after that, India launched its solar mission soon after the success of its lunar mission…,” he said.
Highlighting India’s growing influence, PM Modi said the African Union was inducted as a permanent member of G20 due to the initiative of India.
“India also led the Global Bio-fuel Alliance. During G20, we took the decision to build the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor which will give a push to trade and tourism for many centuries. After the G20, the Saudi Crown Prince’s state visit began. Saudi Arabia is going to invest USD 100 billion in India. This all happened in 30 days. In the past 30 days, as India’s PM, I have held meetings with 85 World Leaders. This is around half the world. You must be thinking what you’d get from all this. When India’s relations with other countries are good, new opportunities and markets are created for India. The benefit of all this will go to youth,” he said.
With India’s efforts, the Prime Minister said six new countries were included in the BRICS community.
“You have chosen me to do all the good deeds. Right before the G20 Summit, I had a meeting with several world leaders in Indonesia. After that, in G20 big decisions were taken for the world. Bringing so many countries together on one platform amid today’s polarised international atmosphere is not a small thing…,” he said.
