India at Asian Games Day 4: Gold and New World Record From Sift Kaur Samra; Roshibina Devi Eyes Gold in Wushu Finals – News18


Day four of the Asian Games has ended with India picking up some medals yet again. But unfortunately, they have slipped back into seventh position at the end of the fourth day.

Roshibina Devi will be looking forward to her final bout where she is guaranteed a silver at the very least but her eyes will be on gold as she looks to compete in the finals of the Wushu event.

In shooting, Sift Kaur Samra managed to break the World Record as she managed to win gold in the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions event at the Asian Games where Ashi Chouksuey managed to get bronze as well. Both Sift Kaur Samra and Ashi Chouksuey along with Manini Kaushik were able to get a silver as well in the respective team event.

Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Gurjoat Singh Khangura and Anant Jeet Singh managed to get a bronze in the Men’s Skeet 50 team event.

3 x 3 Basketball:

India managed to defeat Macao, China in their Pool C fixture for the men’s division. The scoreline after the game was 21-12. The winner will now make it to the quarterfinals with their win. They will now face China on the 29th September, 2023.

The India Women’s Basketball team took on China as part of their fixture in Pool A where they lost to China with a scoreline 22-8.

Basketball:

The Indian women’s team played Indonesia as part of their Group A fixture in the preliminary round. The Indian team won against Indonesia with a scoreline of 66-46.

Boxing:

In the men’s 80-92 kg category, Sanjeet managed to lose against Uzbekistan’s Lazizbek Mullojonov by points finishing the bout 5-0.

In the men’s 57-63.5kg weight class, Shiva Thapa also picked up a loss against Kyrgyzstan’s Askat Kultaev as Thapa lost out on points finishing the bout 5-0.

In the women’s 45-50 kg category, Zareen Nikat went up against the Republic of Korea’s Chorong Bak where she won on points 5-0.

Bridge:

The Indian Men’s team managed to pick up wins against the Philippines, Singapore and Bangladesh

The Indian Women’s team managed to pick up wins against the Republic of Korea but lost to Chinese Taipei and Thailand.

The Indian mixed team managed to win against the Republic of Korea and picked up a loss against Hong Kong, China. The side also lost against the Philippines as well.

Chess:

In the men’s individual event, Vidith Gujrathi and Arjun Erigaisi finished in fifth and sixth in the rankings.

In the women’s individual event, Harika Dronavalli just missed out on a medal having finished fourth while Humpy Koneru finished seventh.

Cycling:

In the Men’s sprint, David Beckham Elkatohchoongo managed to finish ninth with a time of 10:030s while Ronaldo Singh Laitonjam finished thirteenth with a time of 10:086s to qualify. Ronaldo Singh however lost in the 1/16 heat 4 finals and was eliminated in the 1/16 final repechange. David Beckham managed to progress into the 1/8 finals with a win in the 1/16 heat 8.

In the women’s Keirin first round heat 1, Shushikala Agashe managed to finish fifth, the last spot. In heat 2, Triyasha Paul managed to finish in third position. Both were, however, eliminated in the Repechage, heat 2 with both taking up the fifth and sixth spots.

Equestrian:

In the Dressage Individual Intermediate I event, Hriday Vipul Chheda finished at the top while Anush Agarwalla finished at third. Divyakriti Singh finished at eleventh while Sudipiti Hajela was eliminated before registering a score.

Esports:

Representing India in the League of Legends, quarterfinal 4, the Indian team lost against Vietnam 2-0.

Fencing:

In the Men’s Foil Team Table of 16-2, India lost against Singapore, 30-45.

In the Women’s Épée Team Table of 16-2, India managed to pick up a win against Jordan, 36-45. But lost against the Republic of Korea in the Quarterfinals 1, 45-25.

Handball:

In the Women’s Preliminary Round, Group B, the Indian women’s team managed to draw against China with a scoreline of 26-26.

Hockey:

The Indian women’s team managed to pick up a victory against Singapore in dominant fashion as they won with a scoreline, 13-0.

Sailing:

Vishnu Saravanan managed to pick a bronze in the Men’s Dinghy – ILCA7 Medal Race picking up 34 net points to secure the third position.

Shooting:

In the Men’s Skeet-50 Team event, India’s team of Angad Vir Singh Bajwa, Gurjoat Singh Khangura and Anant Jeet Singh managed to secure third with a combined score of 355 points.

In the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions Team event, India’s team of Ashi Chouksey, Manini Kaushik and Sift Kaur Samra managed to get a combined score of 1764 points.

In the Women’s Skeet-50 Team event (Phase 2), the Indian team of Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Darshna Rathore and Ganemat Sekhon missed out on a bronze by 6 points and finished the event with 336 points in total.

In the Women’s 25m Pistol Team event, the Indian team of Esha Singh, Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan managed to secure gold with a combined score of 1759-68x.

In the Women’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event, Sift Kaur Samra managed to secure gold with a total score of 496.6 as she crushed the previous World Record of 467 points. Ashi Chouksey finished with bronze as she scored 451.9

In the Women’s 25m Pistol event, Esha Singh managed to secure silver with a final score of 34 points while Manu Bhaker finished with 21 points to finish fifth.

In the Men’s Skeet event, Anant Jeet Singh Naruka managed to finish second and secure a silver with 58 points.

Squash:

In the Men’s Team, pool A, India managed to get a win against Kuwait 3-0. While they lost against Pakistan 2-1.

The women’s team pool B, also managed to get a win against Nepal with a scoreline 3-0. They also defeated Macao,China with the same scoreline as well.

Swimming:

In the Women’s 100m Butterfly event Heat 2, Nina Venkatesh managed to finish at the fourth spot with a time of 1:03:89s, 4.14s behind the leader.

In the Women’s 100m Backstroke Heat 3 results, Maana Rajiv Patel managed to finish fifth with a time of 1:03:55s making her 2.26 seconds behind the leader.

In the Women’s 100m Breaststroke Heat 1, Lineysha managed to finish at sixth position with a time of 1:15:60s making her 7.94 seconds behind the leader.

In the men’s 200m Freestyle Heat 3, Srihari Nataraj finished off with a time off 1:49:05s securing him at fourth spot and 1.97s behind the leader. In Heat 4, Tanish George Mathew finished in seventh position with a time of 1:52:39s making him 3.97s behind the leader.

Table Tennis:

In the Men’s doubles, round of 64, the Indian duo of Manav Vikash Thakkar and Manush Utpalbhai Shah managed to progress into the next round by defeating their Thai counterparts 3-2.

In the Mixed doubles, the round of 32, Manika Batra and Sathiyan Gnanasekaran Sathiyan finished the round with a victory over Thailand, 3-1. The duo of Harmeet Rajul Desai and Sreeja Akula also defeated Macau, China with a score of 3-0.

Taekwondo:

In the Men’s 80 kg, round of 32, Shivansh Tyagi managed to defeat Cambodia’s VA Mithona with a score of 2-0. Tyagi was defeated in the next round by the Korean Republic’s Woohyeok Park, 2-0.

In the Women’s 67 Kg, round of 16, Margerette Maria Regi was defeated by Tepei, China’s Jui En Chang with a score of 2-0.

Tennis:

In the Men’s Singles Quarterfinals, Sumi Nagal was eliminated by China’s Zhizhen Zhang with a score of 6(3)-7, 6-1, 6-2.

In the Men’s Doubles Quarterfinals, India’s duo of Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanath managed to defeat China in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(8).

In Round 3 of the Mixed Doubles, representing India, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale won against Japan in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4.

In Round 3 again, the duo of Ankita Raina and Yuki Bhambri lost against the Philippines with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 8-10.

In the Women’s Singles Quarterfinals, Ankita Raina was defeated by Haruka Kaji of Japan with a score of 6-3,4-6,4-6.

Wushu:

In Daoshu, India’s Rohit Jadhav finished at eighth position with a score of 9.413.

In Gunshu, Rohit finished eighth again with a score of 9.553.

In the Women’s 60kg Semi-finals, India’s Roshibina Devi Naorem finished as the winner against Vietnam with a score of 2-0, giving her a chance to go for the gold.
