From Ricky Ponting to Ian Bishop – ICC Announces Star-Studded Lineup For World Cup’s Commentary Team – News18

The ICC announced a star-studded commentary team that will be in the box for the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup which is hosted by India.

The ICC announced the commentary line-up for the highly anticipated ICC ODI World Cup, 2023, which is set to take place in India. The line-up comprises of some of cricket’s biggest legends and iconic voices in the sport.

According to the ICC’s website, the event is set to comprise a pre-match show, an innings interval program and a post-match wrap-up.

The coverage will include the World Cup-winning captains, Ricky Ponting from Australia and Eoin Morgan from England as well.

They will also be joined by fellow World Cup winners, Shane Watson, Lisa Sthalekar, Ramiz Raja, Ravi Shastri, Aaron Finch, Sunil Gavaskar and Matthew Hayden.

Some of the iconic voices in cricket’s commentary will also return to the box. These include Nasser Hussain, Ian Smith and Ian Bishop who were also part of the team that commentated on the iconic match between England and New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup finals.

Other stars from the cricketing fraternity who will be part of the commentary team include the former skippers, Waqar Younis, Shaun Pollock, Anjum Chopra and Michael Atherton.

But the team doesn’t end here, Simon Doull, Mpumelelo Mbangwa, Sanjay Manjrekar, Katey Martin, Dinesh Karthik, Dirk Nannes, Samuel Badree, Athar Ali Khan and Russel Arnold will also be part of the commentary teams for the prestigious event.

The team will be rounded off with some of the sport’s iconic broadcasters which include the likes of  Harsha Bhogle, Kass Naidoo, Mark Nicholas, Natalie Germanos, Mark Howard and Ian Ward who will be part of the star-studded commentary squad.

The marquee event is set to kick off with a repeat of the 2019 World Cup final with England and New Zealand set to start off the proceedings.

A notable name that has been missing from the commentary lineups is that of Aakash Chopra who had also confirmed on Twitter that he would not be part of the commentary team for this edition of the World Cup.

Hopes will be riding on Team India as they will look to re-create their heroics from 2011 they attempt to put their woes in ICC events behind them as a start-studded squad will attempt to bring home the prized title that has eluded them for the past 12 years.
