Nikhat Zareen ends her Asian Games boxing campaign with a heartbreak after she is defeated in a close contest in the semi-finals at the Asian Games.
India’s boxing star, Nikhat Zareen picked up a loss as she ended her Asian Games campaign with a bronze after being defeated by Thailand’s, Chuthamat Raksat via a split decision in the semi-finals in the women’s boxing 45-50 kg event at the Asian Games, held in Hangzhou, China.

Nikhat did not look at her best in the first two rounds but managed to get her mojo back in the third and fourth rounds. But the last round proved to be costly as the Thai boxer managed to put in decent shots against the Indian star.
The judge’s scorecard also indicated a similar story as they gave the first two rounds to Raksat while the next two were given to Zareen.
The last round saw Raksat going for the win as she managed to land some blows on Zareen. But Zareen also looked agile enough but Raksat was able to seal the win as she managed to break Zareen’s momentum by forcing the split after constantly going for the clinch.
Zareen will end her campaign at the Asian Games, proud after securing a bronze as well as qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics as well which is a marquee event for her to display her talent on the big stage.

Zareen had a fantastic campaign in the Asiad after blowing out the competition in the preliminary rounds where she picked up wins against Vietnam’s Thi Tam Nguyen and Choro Bak of the Korean Republic.
