In Kerala, rains continued to pummel several areas affecting normal life and raising the water level of several rivers in the state to the dangerous mark
Heavy rainfall is predicted in several states, including Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, and Odisha, for the next three days, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday. In Kerala, rains continued to pummel several areas affecting normal life and raising the water level of several rivers in the state to the dangerous mark.
The weather department confirmed in a statement that the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and some parts of Gujarat.
Here are the weather updates from across the country:

- A low-pressure area is created over southeast Jharkhand and neighborhood that will move eastwards during the next two-three days. This movement will result in light and moderate rainfall over Bihar, West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand, and north Odisha on October 4.
- The eastwards movement will also cause downpours in Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya Mizoram, and Tripura from October 4 to October 7.
- As the southwest monsoon is now in the withdrawal phase, the rains are expected to reduce from October 4 onwards in Kerala.
- The IMD has issued an orange alert in the southernmost district of Kerala and a yellow alert in the Kollam, Pathanamthitta, and Alappuzha districts.
- It also issued yellow alerts for Vellaikatav station on the Karamana River (Thiruvananthapuram), Thumbaman station on the Achankovil River (Pathanamthitta), and Kallupara station on the Manimala River (Pathanamthitta) in Kerala.
- Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places in Kerala from October till 5, the IMD said.
- A holiday was declared by the district administration for educational institutions in Kerala’s Kottayam, Vaikom, and Changanassery taluks where 17 relief camps are providing shelter to around 246 people due to flooding in those areas.
- Light and moderate precipitation is likely over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura till October 7.
- The Met department on Tuesday issued an orange warning, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) for the districts of Sundergarh, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj in Odisha till 8.30 am on Wednesday.
- Heavy rainfall may also occur at one or two places in Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Boudh, Dhenkanal, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts in Odisha, the weather office said.
