Kishore Jena won the Asian Games silver medal, the athlete from Odisha will receive a prize money of 1.5 crore announced CM Patnaik after Jena qualified for Paris 2024
Odisha’s Kishore Jena has bagged a silver medal in the Javelin throw event of the Asian Games at Hangzhou in China.
Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the event. With this achievement, Jena qualified for the Paris Olympics, having breached the Olympics 2024 qualification mark of 85m.
Neeraj clinched the gold with his throw of 88.88m while Jena claimed silver with his personal best attempt of 87.54m.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan congratulated Jena for his success at the Asian Games.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore for Odisha’s Javelin star athlete Kishore Kumar Jena.
CM Naveen said, “The award is in recognition of his stellar performance, his perseverance and determination. I congratulate him on his win at the Asian Games and also qualifying for the Paris Olympics. Kishore’s triumph not only reflects personal excellence but also serves as an inspiration for budding athletes across the country”.
Naveen assured all support for Kishore for his preparation for the Olympics next year.
Kishore Jena’s village is Kothisahi in the Brahmagiri block of Puri district. The people of his village celebrated the Indian athlete’s success with much fervour. While the match was going on, Kishore’s family members sat in front of the TV and prayed to God for Kishore’s success.

After the success of Kishore, there is a happy atmosphere in the family. His father and mother shared sweets in the village due to the success of their son. Her mother Harpriya Jena said Kishore Jena’s hard work has brought success to the country today.
For a brief moment, Kishore had overtaken Chopra and was in the fray to win the Asian Games gold, however, Neeraj came up with his season-best throw of 88.88m to clinch the top place at the podium. For the first time in the history of the Asian Games, two Indians finished in the top two places in the Javelin throw final.
