According to Karan Patel, there is a wrong perception about TV actors in the industry. People in the industry understand that TV actors cannot play lead roles in films. Popular TV actor Karan Patel wants to change this thinking. Karan said that small screen actors are in no way less than film stars. For this reason, Karan worked in a film Darran Chhu. Karan Patel has a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar about his film.

I am making a film to change the attitude towards TV actors – Karan

Karan Patel said- I am making this film to change people’s perspective towards TV actors. Honestly speaking, there is a very wrong perception of TV actors in the industry. People think that TV actors do not work in films. I want to say to some experienced directors that our TV faces can create a connection with their audience over weeks more than some film actors.

TV actors are more adaptable than film actors. If you make a film with a TV actor, it will be quick, cheap and maybe even get better performance. This doesn’t happen in Hollywood. The biggest actors there do both TV and films. I hope that very soon the actor will be seen from the actor’s perspective. Now the situation is such that those whom you considered film heroes are not working.

Very challenging to fit into the character

Karan Patel said- It was very challenging to fit into this character. I had to lose a lot of weight. It was very important to change the body language because I hail from Mumbai and the story of the film is about a simple boy from a small town. Our dialect was very different, our way of reacting to every situation was different.

People of Bhopal are very happy-go-lucky

We shot the entire film in Bhopal. It was quite interesting to spend time, laugh and joke with the artists there. I got to learn a lot about him. The people there have some strange catchphrases which are very funny. Also, it is a very beautiful city, especially the lake in the middle of which we shot.

However, the heat there was unbearable. My salute to the people there for working this summer. The people of Bhopal are very happy-natured.

One thing I noticed was that people there say, ‘It will be done’ in everything. You say something, his answer used to be, ‘Yes, it will definitely be done.’ (Laughs) Talking about food, food used to come from the house of one of our members on the set.

I did not get work on TV after ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ closed.

“It has been almost 4 years since the TV show ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ went off air. Since then I haven’t got anything to do on TV. Meanwhile, yes, one or two web series were received. Sometimes there would be days when I would wonder what life has become. There was nothing to be done. It was not that I remained depressed every day.

At such times, one would move ahead thinking that this too will pass. Even if good days are spent, bad days will also pass.
