Ram Pothineni gained 12 kgs for his role in the film.
As per a report published in The Times of India, Skanda managed to rake in Rs 50.3 crore gross in just five days.
Skanda: The Attacker, directed by Boyapati Srinu, was released at the cinemas on September 28 and received mixed to poor reviews. Critics were of the opinion that there was nothing out-of-the-box in the film that could entertain the audience for long. The film had a good run at the box office in the Telugu states on the first day of release, despite the tepid reviews.
Skanda’s box office collection reached Rs 50 crore within five days of its release but now shows no scope for further increase in the collections. According to the critics, Skanda witnessed a slump in the collections in the first four days, but couldn’t increase further because there were mixed reviews about the film. According to a report published in sacnilk.com, the 5-day gross collection of Skanda is Rs 39.80 crore. As per a report published in The Times of India, Skanda has managed to rake in Rs 50.3 crore gross in just five days.
Skanda revolves around AP CM Rayudu (Ajay Purkar) and TS CM Ranjith Reddy (Sharath Lohitashwa), who used to be good friends, till their children decided to run away together. Rudrakanti Ramakrishna Raju (Meka Srikanth) is a business tycoon, who has just admitted to crimes he didn’t commit. It’s a method to ensure the safety of his daughter Parineeta (Saiee Manjrekar). There is also a student in this film (Ram Pothineni) who likes his classmate (Sreeleela) but doesn’t know about her identity. How all these people cross paths forms the core theme of the story. Srinivasaa Silver Screen and Zee Studios have bankrolled this film.
Ram Pothineni talked about this film in an interview with the Hyderabad Times before the release. He said, “Skanda is a film that will take you back to your roots.” He also revealed, “I put on 12 kilos to assume the physicality needed to carry off the tasks convincingly.”
According to Pothineni, he changed everything about himself, ranging from hairstyle to clothes, and the way he moved to fit in the role. He added that director Boyapati Srinu gave him a simple brief about the character.
