What Is The Hornbill Festival?

In December, Naga Heritage Village, in the Kohima District of Nagaland, hosts the Hornbill Festival every year. The occasion exemplifies and highlights the state’s tribal customs and culture. Due to its size and grandeur, the event is also known as the “Festival of Festivals.” In the meanwhile, it’s also intriguing to consider how the event got its name. It’s called after the lovely bird known as the “Hornbill,” which is said to be a feature of several local folktales.

In September, Nagaland Minister Along announced that Hornbill Festival is never the same every year and this year, it will be much better as per The Morung Express. At the second consultative meeting with stakeholders for the upcoming Hornbill Festival held at Hotel Japfu in Kohima, the Minister said, “We welcome all tourists from around the world to come to Nagaland, enjoy, and have the experience of a lifetime”.
