Shahid Afridi speaks on India touring Pakistan for tournaments

In a clip that’s going viral looks like a snippet from an old presser, from Legends League Masters, in which Afridi was questioned about the Babar Azam-led team’s travel to India for the World Cup

Team India’s 8th win over Pakistan in the ODI World Cup history was widely celebrated among the Indian fans. Rohit Sharma & Co thrashed arch-rivals to register the neighbours to continue their winning streak in the ongoing tournament. More than a hundred thousand people, who had arrived at the Narendra Modi Stadium, cheered for the men in blue but at the same time, some of them also mocked the Pakistan players which drew immense criticism on social media.

People booing Pakistan captain Babar Azam and chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram’ to taunt Muhammad Rizwan while he was on his way back to the dressing room were a few instances that didn’t go well among a section of fans. Amid the ongoing debates, a video of Shahid Afridi is going viral in which the former Pakistan captain could be heard speaking of mutual respect among neighbours.

ICC World Cup: SCHEDULE | RESULTS POINTS TABLE | MOST RUNS | MOST WICKETS

The clip that’s going viral looks like a snippet from an old presser, from Legends League Masters, in which Afridi was questioned about the Babar Azam-led team’s travel to India for the World Cup. After the BCCI denied sending India to Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, the Pakistan Cricket Board reacted by saying the men in green won’t go to India for the mega ICC event if Rohit Sharma & his boys don’t come to Pakistan. However, the tournament was eventually conducted as per the hybrid model proposed by the PCB.

“Who is denying? India but not Pakistan. Aap India ki team ko bhejiye to sahi, hum unhein Sar ankhon par rakhenge (You send the Indian team to Pakistan and we will offer them the best-ever treatment,” Afridi had said.

Earlier on Saturday, India managed to continue their unbeaten streak against Pakistan in the ICC ODI World Cup. Both neighbouring countries have faced off in this marquee tournament eight times so far, with the Men in Blue having the last laugh on every occasion.
