Leo became the highest opener film of Kollywood industry: Worldwide earning of 145 crores on the first day, leaving Pathan behind; failed to overtake the young man

Thalapathy Vijay’s film Leo has collected Rs 145 crore on the opening day. With this, the film has become the highest grossing film on the first day in Kollywood cinema history. In this film released on October 19, Vijay has played the character of a man named Parthi. Sanjay Dutt is seen in the role of dreaded gangster Antony Das.
Becomes the biggest opener of Kollywood industry
This is the first time that a Kollywood film has got such a big opening across the world. This film has also proved to be the biggest opener of Vijay’s career. With the collection of the film Leo, Vijay has beaten the collections of his previous two films Beast and Sarkar. Made with a budget of around Rs 300 crore, this film has been released on 900 screens.
There was no morning show, yet the collection was beyond expectations.
Made under the direction of Lokesh Kanagaraj, this film was surrounded by many controversies before its release. After this it was released in Hindi and Telugu belts. However, the film has surprised everyone with its first day’s earnings.
There was no morning show of the film. Despite this, it has earned only Rs 30 crore in Tamil Nadu and Rs 15 crore in Andhra Pradesh-Telangana.
On the first day, the film got 86.92% occupancy in theaters in Tamil genre. The morning show saw around 86.35% occupancy and the night show saw over 90% occupancy rate. This Vijay starrer film has 1282 shows in Chennai. But it remains to be seen whether the film can maintain its opening day momentum or not.
Pathan took the film ahead of KGF 2 but failed to surpass Jawan in Hindi.
Leo has earned Rs 68 crore in the Hindi belt, leaving behind Pathan (57 crore), KGF 2 (53.95 crore) and War (53.35). The youth is still ahead in this race. Jawan collected Rs 75 crore at the Indian box office on its opening day.
World wide opening record in the name of RRR
Talking about the first day collection of any Indian film, ‘RRR’ had collected Rs 225.5 crore worldwide. In this list, Bahubali-2 is at second place with first day collection of Rs 213 crore.
