Rupali Ganguly’s video message for fans is a must-watch.
Rupali Ganguly, known for her role as Anupamaa, encouraged women to embrace their imperfections and flaws.
Rupali Ganguly, best known for her role as Anupamaa, advocates the idea of embracing imperfections. In a recent interview, she emphasised the importance of celebrating one’s flaws. Rupali Ganguly, who portrays a mother of three on-screen, believes that true perfection comes from accepting one’s imperfections rather than concealing them. The talented actress not only acknowledges her own imperfections but also encourages others to do the same.
In an interview with She The People TV, Rupali Ganguly stated, “Hum aurton ka hamesha yahi hota hai ki patle hote hain toh humko lagta hai ke hum kamaal dikhte hain. (Women always think that if they are slim, they look great).”
“It is your imperfections, which make you the perfect Anupama. Jo humne ek dharna bana rakhi hai ki, ‘iss taraha se hi aurat lagegi toh woh khubsurat hogi, iss tarah se uski ankein badi badi hogi toh woh khubsurat lagegi, aise smile hogi toh hi khubsurat hogi.’ Log ajkal doctor ke paas bhi jaate hain, smile ke liye, naak ke liye, kaafi saari cheezon ke liye. I have my crow’s feet, I have my laugh line and I’m very proud of them because I’ve earned them. (The notion we’ve created is that ‘a woman will look beautiful if she looks a certain way, if her eyes are big, if she has a smile like this.’ Nowadays, people even go to the doctor for things like a smile or a nose.),” the actress added.
Rupali Ganguly has been a vocal advocate for women’s empowerment and raising awareness about the challenges they face. In a previous interview with Pinkvilla, the Anupamaa star tackled the issue of casual comments related to ageism, sexism, and body shaming. She expressed her understanding of the emotional impact of such comments on women, emphasising that not everyone can easily brush off hurtful remarks and continue unaffected.
She highlighted that the strength to handle such remarks must come from within. The actress encouraged individuals to not let these comments affect them in any way. She suggested that it is best to neglect what others say and not allow it to have any real impact.
Before getting her role in Anupamaa, she took a hiatus from acting to focus on her family for over six years. Prior to this break, she had already made a name for herself in the television industry. One of her most iconic roles, Monisha in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, is still remembered as one of her standout performances.
