‘Sign of Commitment’: Sachin Tendulkar Praises New Fielding Award as he Announces Winner – WATCH – News18

India’s cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar had addressed the team after their win against Sri Lanka and announced the winner for the best fielder award.

Team India’s cricketing icon, Sachin Tendulkar had made an appearance in the Team India dressing room after securing their seventh win in a row in the World Cup 2023 by defeating Sri Lanka in dominant fashion.

It was announced by their fielding coach, T Dilip, that the award for the best fielder in the team for the game would be announced by Sachin himself who made a video appearance congratulating the team for their win.

Before announcing the winner, Sachin had shared how the new fielding medal award took him back to the 2003 World Cup and how the players back then had to sign a chart that stated, “I can, We Can.” He shared that the new award was a sign of commitment by the players to, “give 100% for the country and for the team.”

Sachin had also shared to the team that the new medal to him was,” a reflection of your commitment, doing something for your team and for your country.”

The Master Blaster also shared his love for the brand of cricket the Indian team has been playing in the World Cup.

He announced that the winner was Shreyas Iyer who had taken two catches in the game.

Before Sachin had addressed the team, T Dilip appreciated both KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja for their fielding displays in the game.

The Indian team became the first team in the World Cup 2023 to have secured qualification to the semi-finals after their big win against Sri Lanka. Mohammed Shami also etched his name in the history books after taking a five-wicket haul and becoming India’s leading wicket-taker in World Cup history surpassing the former Indian cricketer Zaheer Khan.

Team India now will head to Kolkata where they will face South Africa in their eighth game which takes place at the historic Eden Gardens.
