The cricket fraternity and fans hailed Virat Kohli for equaling Tendulkar’s massive record on the special occasion – his 35th birthday.
Virat Kohli made his 35th birthday more special with a record-equaling 49th ODI century in the highly-anticipated World Cup match against South Africa on Sunday at Eden Gardens. Kohli fought hard on a tricky batting surface and displayed another masterclass of grit and determination to level with Sachin Tendulkar in the tally of most ODI centuries – 49.
Kohli completed the historic century in 119 balls as his legion of fans at Eden Gardens when he took the single in the 48.3 overs.
It was a moment to cherish for every cricket fan at the stadium as many also captured the special moment on their mobile phones.

Kohli came out to bat in the sixth over after Kagiso Rabada got the better of India skipper Rohit Sharma on 40.
The 35-year-old was off the mark with a sensational cover drive which raced away for a boundary in no time.
The pitch was not easy for batting as the spinners got assistance from the surface which was slow in nature. Kohli grind hard and relied on singles and doubles to keep the scoreboard moving.

Kohli remained unbeaten on 101 off 121 balls as his historic century powered India to a formidable 326/5 in 50 overs on a tricky batting surface.
Meanwhile, Kohli took way less innings than Tendulkar to reach the 49th ODI century.
