The Malayalam psychological thriller, which left an indelible mark on the minds of the audience, was directed by Fazil and written by Madhu Muttam. The duo created such a magical impact that even after three decades, the film continues to captivate viewers due to its impactful storyline and memorable characters. Coming back to Manichitrathazhu, the film explores the supernatural activities experienced by Nakulan (played by Suresh Gopi) and his wife Ganga (played by Shobhana) in their ancestral home. This led to a psychologist named Sunny (played by Mohanlal) intervening in the matter. The movie featured legendary actors such as Nedumudi Venu, K.P.A.C. Lalitha, Innocent, and Thilakan whose nuanced portrayal of their respective characters turned out to be an enthralling experience for the audience to witness.
Meanwhile, the screenplay of the film, dialogues, and music continue to resonate with fans.
