The CCTV footage of the incident shows women stepping out of their sedan and quickly stealing flowerpots.
In a bizarre incident that has captured public attention, two women in Punjab’s Mohali were caught on CCTV stealing flowerpots outside a residence in Sector 78. The peculiar episode unfolded as the women, arriving in a sedan, swiftly targeted flowerpots placed on either side of the main gate. The CCTV footage of the theft has gone viral on social media, leaving viewers astonished and prompting discussions on the authenticity of the video.
The video shows the women getting out of their sedan, approaching the house, and promptly grabbing the flowerpots. After the theft, they hurriedly return to their car and make a quick getaway. The footage, shared by a user on X with the caption “Women found stealing flowerpots outside a home in Mohali, Punjab,” has stirred conversations and reactions on social media.
As the video gained traction, social media users expressed their opinions, with some suggesting the need for gender-neutral laws to address such incidents. One user emphasised, “High time for gender-neutral laws to prevent such incidents. Crime has no gender, proved.” Another, in a lighter tone, remarked, “Beti padhao, chori karwao.”
While this incident is unusual, it is not the first time flowerpots have been targeted for theft. Earlier this year, a similar headline-making incident occurred when two individuals stole flowerpots from in front of the Ambience Mall on the Delhi-Gurugram expressway. The thieves brazenly loaded the stolen flowerpots into an SUV. Subsequently, a 50-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
Interestingly, in Delhi, ahead of the G20 Summit, police personnel were tasked with the additional responsibility of safeguarding nearly 700,000 flowerpots. This decision was made in response to multiple complaints of missing flowerpots, rubber nozzles, wires, and damaged lights across the city. Incidents included the theft and damage of street lights and decorative lights near Lodhi Road, Mathura Road, and Ring Road, along with the disappearance of numerous flowerpots during the event.
