Sushmita was born on 19 November 1975 in Hyderabad in a Bengali family. Father is a former Wing Commander of the Indian Air Force and mother Shubhra Sen is a jewelery designer. I had thought that the child who would react to the name Rini, I would adopt only that one. When I reached there, 6-7 children were present. One by one I went to all the children, called Rini, but no one reacted.

Then I went to a girl. She was almost asleep. As I spoke, Rini opened her eyes and started laughing. As soon as I saw it, I decided that I would adopt it. Then I called home and told my parents that I had found Rini. But then the caretaker there told that the girl has acute bronchitis. Perhaps because of this she will not remain mentally fit in future. It felt like the biggest betrayal I have ever received.

Later I took Rini to 3 doctors. The first two doctors refused to let me adopt her, but the third doctor said that Rini has a very sharp mind and she will recover. That’s how Rini came into my life.
