Veteran Bollywood director Manmohan Desai’s film Amar Akbar Anthony became the highest-grossing movie of 1977.

At the time of release, these films had made many records, in terms of earnings. The year 1977 is coined as one of the golden years of Bollywood. It saw the release of several films which were blockbuster hits and have also been enlisted in the list of cult movies. Let us take a look at some of them.

Dharam Veer: It was directed by Manmohan Desai and starred Dharmendra and Jeetendra in lead roles. Zeenat Aman, Neetu Singh and Pran also played prominent roles in the film. The movie was a blockbuster hit at the box office. It was the second highest-grossing movie of 1977. Bobby Deol also played a brief role in the film. The music was composed by Laxmikant-Pyarelal.

Amar Akbar Anthony: Veteran Bollywood director Manmohan Desai’s film Amar Akbar Anthony became the highest-grossing movie of 1977. The film had a star cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Vinod Khanna and Rishi Kapoor in lead roles. The movie is also known as one of the biggest blockbusters of Bollywood. Actors Neetu Singh, Parveen Bobby, Shabana Azmi, Nirupa Roy, Pran and Jeevan also played prominent roles in the film. This film achieved the top position by earning over Rs 7 crore at the box office.

Hum Kisise Kam Naheen: Nasir Hussain directed the third highest-grossing movie of that year. This movie is majorly known for its songs such as Bachna Ae Haseeno and Chand Mera Dil. The movie starred Rishi Kapoor, Tariq and Kajal Kiran in lead roles. The music album of this movie was a super hit and is also considered one of the reasons for the success of the film.
