Actress Richa Chadha, who became popular by playing the role of Bholi Punjaban in Fukrey, has played the role of an elderly woman in Gangs of Wasseypur. Since then, she was offered roles of many older women, which she rejected. One of these offers she also got was to become Hrithik Roshan’s onscreen mother, even though Hrithik is much older than her. Richa was disappointed to know that despite having many senior actresses, the casting director approached her.
Recently, in a conversation with ABP News, Richa talked about rejecting the role of Hrithik’s mother. She told that someone had told the casting director that she plays the roles of older women well. In such a situation, the casting director offered her the role without thinking, even though she was only 21 years old. Richa felt that if she accepted this role, it would be unfair to the senior actress who was really fit for that role. Because senior actresses have less options anyway.
Despite being a senior actress, casting of young actress was wrong.
Richa said, the actress who played that role after some time, did it very well. So I think it is very wrong that you are casting a young and attractive actress for the role of an older woman and making her appear elderly.
He further said, So as per principle also I had refused. But that casting director never called me, that’s a different matter.
Even though Richa has rejected the role of Hrithik’s mother, she played the role of an elderly woman very well in the film Gangs of Wasseypur. On accepting this role, he had said that Anurag Kashyap’s film was a story of 30-40 years, in which the age of all the characters including Nawazuddin and Huma was seen increasing.
Richa Chadha’s recent release film Fukrey 3 was a hit, after which she will now be seen in Anubhav Sinha’s film Abhi To Party Shuru Hui Hai.
