Animal: Meet The Man Behind Ranbir Kapoor's VIRAL Dance Moves On Roja BGM | Exclusive – News18

Ranbir Kapoor grooving to instrumental versions of Chhoti Si Aasha and Roja Jaaneman in Aminal is creating a rage on social media.

Dance master reveals choreographing Ranbir Kapoor for his entry BGM in Animal without meeting or speaking to him. He adds the moonwalk was Sandeep Vanga’s idea.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal continues to create havoc at the box office and it seems unlikely that its buzz will die down anytime soon. Along with several clips from the film and its tracks, Bobby Deol’s introduction song Jamal Jamalo and Ranbir Kapoor grooving to instrumental versions of Chhoti Si Aasha and Roja Jaaneman from Roja are creating a rage on social media. The latter sees Kapoor moonwalking into the frame and bearing a resemblance to the OG bad boy, Sanjay Dutt, and needless to say, it has left fans in complete awe.

For the unversed, Kapoor’s moves in the viral instrumental pieces (originally composed by AR Rahman) have been choreographed by Aata Sandeep, who was a part of Bigg Boss Telugu 7. Speaking to News18 Showsha exclusively, he says that he’s overwhelmed with the love he has been receiving for choreographing a set spanning across just a few seconds.

He tells us, “I’m getting a good feedback after a long time. I’m so happy about it. The complete credit goes to Sandeep sir. He’s a legend. It’s such an updated film. After watching the film, I was so surprised. And after watching Kapoor’s entry, a lot of people are texting me. In fact, a lot of people from Bollywood have followed me back on Instagram (laughs). I didn’t expect this kind of a reception.”

He further reveals that the moonwalk was Vanga’s brainchild. Lauding the director’s vision, Sandeep remarks, “He explained to me that this would be Kapoor’s entry song and his vision of the scene and what scene would follow the instrumental because that was important for me to know. He asked me to make some unique steps. Sandeep sir told me that he wanted Kapoor to enter by moonwalking. I gave him five to six steps right in front of him. He played the music and I danced before him.”

The choreography, he reveals, happened in a rather unusual way and that he still hasn’t met or spoken to Kapoor as the former recorded the moves and sent them over to Vanga. Prod him further and he adds, “I wasn’t there when the shoot happened. A local guy followed my steps and guided Kapoor. I wasn’t a part of the rehearsals. Kapoor practiced with an assistant. The steps were mine but Kapoor improvised the style because he has his own personality. He also has a great body language.”

He recalls the time when he had met Vanga for the first time in March 2022 and shares that he was quite under pressure upon coming to know that he has to prepare a choreography set for ‘a big hero’ like Kapoor. “I’m not a big choreographer. This is the first step for me. When I heard that it would be for Kapoor, I was literally in shock!” he says.

The integrated instrumental pieces were composed by a Hyderabad-based music band called Threeory and Sandeep is elated to have been able to collaborate with them. “Sandeep sir made me hear the piece and I was completely mesmerised. It was a tribute to AR Rahman. I know the band members personally. They’re very good friends of mine. I think this is the first time in recent times that a big star is dancing to an instrumental and that was a big surprise for me as well,” remarks Sandeep, who already has received ‘a big offer’ from Bollywood following the success of Animal.
