Ravichandran Ashwin had a cheeky reply to Nathan Lyon’s wish to catch up with his spin rival at some point later on.
While the rivalry between India and Australia might be even stronger after the 2023 World Cup finals, two players managed to find the camaraderie between themselves with the two players being the ace spinners for their respective sides in the longest format of the game.
Australia’s Nathan Lyon was all praise for his Indian counterpart Ravichandran Ashwin and even went on to call him one of his ‘biggest coaches’ in the sport. Lyon spoke to cricket.com.au, “I’ve definitely learned from him. There’s an opportunity to learn from the people you play against, and without knowing it he’s probably been one of my biggest coaches in a way.”
Nathan Lyon had tweeted on his handle on X that he believed that the two have a couple of years left in them and the competition to choose a place to catch up is strong.
Ashwin cheekily replied to his post saying, ” We can do a home and away for the catch-up too.”

Ashwin suggested that if they were to catch up in India they would go to a local shop to have some soup and chaat while the choice would be up to Lyon during their meet in Sydney.

Both spinners are very close to the 500 wickets milestone as they will aim to surpass that in their respective Test matches coming up soon. Australia will go up against Pakistan in the first Test of the three-match series at home while India’s tour of South Africa will see the Indian side go up against the Proteas in a two-match series later on in December as well.
