Neena Gupta told that when she came to Mumbai in search of work, she used to cook at the iconic Prithvi Café to get free food.
Came to Mumbai from Delhi with her boyfriend in 1981
Recently, in an interview given to ETimes, Neena Gupta told about her initial days in Mumbai. She said that she came to Mumbai from Delhi with her boyfriend in 1981. She did not have the courage to come alone, that is why she came with her boyfriend.
At this time, she used to cook Bharta at Prithvi Cafe attached to Prithvi Theater in Juhu, so that she could get free food. Besides, she also used to do plays in theatre.
Boyfriend says- Have you come to Bombay to become a maid?
Neena further told that her boyfriend did not like her work. He used to say to them – Be ashamed, have you come to Bombay to become a maid? This is what she has come to do. She felt very sad and angry due to these words of her boyfriend. In fact, the boyfriend not only humiliated her but also asked her for money to buy cigarettes.
Neena did everything from cleaning floors in NSD
Neena further said- We used to do everything in NSD. From cleaning the floors to everything else. There were no servants at my house either. She used to do all the work at home herself. I am not shy in doing any kind of work.
Along with films, he also worked on the small screen.

Apart from this, she has also been seen in TV serials like 'Daane Anar Ke', 'Kitni Mohabbat Hai' and 'Dil Se Diya Vachan', 'Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin' and 'Buniyaad'.
Had an affair with Vivian Richards
There was a time when the news of Neena Gupta's affair was in full swing in the media. It was in the 80s, when former West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards came with the Caribbean team on the tour of India. During this time, he met Neena Gupta in a function. Their meeting soon turned into love.
Vivian was so engrossed in Nina's love that he forgot that he was married. Neena became pregnant during the affair. Their daughter Masaba is one of the well-known names in the fashion world today. Later, after separating from Vivian, Neena married Vivek Mehra in 2008.
