Saif Ali Khan got the role in place of Aamir: Aamir wanted to play the role of 'Lagda Tyagi' in the film Omkara, but the director chose Saif.

Omkara film was released in the year 2006. This film starred Ajay Devgan, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan and Vivek Oberoi. This film was based on William Shakespeare's novel 'Othello'. Recently the film's director Vishal Bhardwaj made a revelation. The director told that Aamir Khan wanted to play the character of 'Langra Tyagi' in the film.

Actually, at that time Vishal was working with Aamir on some other project, meanwhile Aamir Khan expressed his feelings to the director. However this could not happen. Vishal Bhardwaj further revealed that Saif Ali Khan was chosen for the role because he was willing to work hard, but was not willing to cut his hair.

Aamir Khan expressed his desire to play the character of 'Langra Tyagi'
During an interview, director Vishal Bhardwaj said- I was working on a project with Aamir. Meanwhile, I spent a lot of time with Aamir. They get along great and are fun to hang out with. Aamir used to share his thoughts. He used to ask me what projects I had in mind for the future. So I told him that I have the roles of 'Othello' and 'Langra Tyagi'. Aamir was quite excited after hearing the character of 'Langra Tyagi'.

He told me- Whenever you make this film, please consider my name. I would be happy if you give me a chance to perform this character. This thing remained in my mind. I was not working for one and a half years. I desperately wanted to make a film, so I thought that if Aamir could like this character so much, then I could definitely excite some other star with it. At that time, I had seen Saif's work.

Saif did a great job in 'Dil Chahta Hai'
When Vishal Bhardwaj was asked why 'Omkara' was not made with Aamir? On this the director revealed- He was busy, he had done 'Rang De Basanti'. To be honest, at that time I did not want to be stuck for the next one and a half years. I (wanted to make a film), with whatever I got.

When I saw Saif in 'Dil Chahta Hai', I was quite impressed. Although earlier Saif's voice was definitely a bit feminine. But in 'Dil Chahta Hai' he really worked on himself. He was a different Saif in this film. I felt there was fire inside him and he had changed himself.

Saif had to be convinced to cut his hair
Vishal told that when he offered this film to Saif, he asked the actor if he was ready to work hard? Because no one would even imagine that Saif can play a role like 'Langra Tyagi'. No one can even imagine. Vishal further said- Saif was ready to play the character of 'Langra Tyagi'. He worked really hard.
