Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday arrived for a two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency Varanasi to launch 37 projects worth over Rs 19,000 crore for the development of the region.

Varanasi is set to witness another set of inaugurations on the second day of PM Modi’s visit to the city. The Prime Minister on Monday inaugurated the Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi, the world’s largest meditation centre.

As per the official statement, the Prime Minister will also flag off the second Vande Bharat train in Varanasi on Monday. The train will reduce the travelling time between Varanasi and New Delhi. He will also launch the New Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction segment of the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) giving a boost to the logistics sector.

On day 1, the Prime Minister launched several development and infrastructure projects in the city, including the launch of the 2nd Edition Of Kashi Tamil Sangamam and the Kanyakumari-Varanasi Tamil Sangamam train.

PM Modi Participates in Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra

After inaugurating Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi, the Prime Minister on Monday participated in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Sewapuri, a rural area of his parliamentary constituency Varanasi.

The Prime Minister on Sunday also participated in the Sankalp Yatra as he arrived in Varanasi took a walkthrough of the stalls and visited the Viksit Bharat Yatra Van and Quiz event. The Prime Minister also interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes and also addressed them on the occasion.

PM Modi flagged off four trains at the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra in Varanasi.

PM Modi Interacts with Govt Scheme Beneficiaries

Prime Minister Modi interacted with beneficiaries of various government schemes under the Vikas Bharat Sankalp Yatra and inspired them to take further steps towards development.

Speaking to a “lakhpati” woman Chanda Devi, Modi asked, “You are giving such a good speech, will you contest elections?” Later, while addressing a rally in Barki, Modi mentioned Chanda Devi and said, “Today, (I) heard Chanda Devi’s speech. I can say that great people cannot deliver such good speeches. She is our ‘lakhpati didi’.” The prime minister said.

Sitting among the beneficiaries, he interacted with them in “Apni Kahani-Apni Zubani”. Chanda Devi, who hails from Rampur village, greeted the prime minister and welcomed him.

PM Modi Inaugurates World’s Largest Meditation Centre

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated Swarved Mahamandir in Varanasi, the world’s largest meditation centre. Following the inauguration, he along with Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a tour of the centre that can seat 20,000 people at a time for meditation.

Verses of the Swarveda have been carved upon the walls of the Mahamandir — a seven-floor superstructure.

“…Like always, every moment spent in Kashi is wonderful in itself…Coming to Kashi always feels like home…” PM Modi said after inaugurating Swarved Mahamandir. “Under the guidance of saints, the people of Kashi have set new records in terms of development and new construction. Today, Swarved Mahamandir is an example of this,” he added.

“I was mesmerised when I took a tour of the Swarved Mahamandir. The divine teachings of Vedas, Upanishads, Ramayana, Gita and Mahabharata have been depicted through pictures on the walls of Swarved Mahamandir,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi to Launch 2nd Varanasi-New Delhi Vande Bharat

The second edition of the Vande Bharat train will be flagged off on Monday at around 2:15 pm by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Northern Railway, the second Vande Bharat train will be saffron in colour with multiple features. The regular operation of the Vande Bharat Express is scheduled to commence on December 20, 2023. Before reaching New Delhi, the train will subsequently pass through Prayagraj, Kanpur Central, Itawa, Tundla and Aligarh.

402 Km Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor

PM Modi will also launch the new Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction to New Bhaupur Junction of the eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor on Monday. This section of the corridor has been built for Rs 10,903 crore and is situated on the Delhi-Howrah rail route. The corridor passes through districts such as Chandauli, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Kaushambi, Fatehpur, Kanpur Nagar and Kanpur Dehat in Uttar Pradesh.

PM Modi Launches 2nd Edition Of Kashi Tamil Sangamam

On day 1 of his visit to Varanasi, the Prime Minister launched the second edition of Kashi Tamil Sangamam in the evening at the Namo Ghat. The cultural festival is scheduled to be held from December 17 to 30.

The program will witness the participation of 1,400 dignitaries from Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and are scheduled to visit Varanasi, Prayagraj and Ayodhya, according to an official statement.

PM Modi Flags off Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express

PM Modi on Sunday flagged off the Kashi Tamil Sangamam Express that is bound to run between Kanyakumari and Varanasi.
