Welcome to 'Star Talks'. Today we are going to tell you about that actress who is ahead of many stars in the 'race' of fitness. We are talking about actress Daisy Shah, who after working with stars like Salman in Bollywood, is now going to enter the digital world.
We talked to Daisy about her fitness, during her gym session we got to know from her how much time she takes out to keep herself fit, how she maintains her diet and who is her role model in terms of fitness.
Daisy Shah was initially a dancer.
Many people might not know that Daisy was a dancer in her early days and Shabina Khan had recognized her talent. Daisy took dancing training from choreographer Shabina Khan and worked with her for years.
After this, Daisy became an assistant and started going to different events and honed her dancing talent. During her struggling days, Daisy never looked at dancing in terms of fitness. She just wanted to earn money to run the household. However, now according to Daisy, there is no better fitness mantra for her than dancing.
Gym Reset is located in the posh area of Bandra, Mumbai.
Recently Dainik Bhaskar got a chance to go to the gym where not only Daisy Shah but many well-known Bollywood celebs like Shahid Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh, Sangeeta Bijlani, Huma Qureshi, Disha Patani work out.
We saw Daisy doing different types of workouts at Gym Reset located in Bandra, a posh area of Mumbai. Daisy revealed the secret behind her fitness. She shared with us many things like what she eats to stay fit, what kind of workout she likes to do, which thing about Salman Khan motivates her to stay fit every time. Her trainer Rakesh also told some interesting things related to the fitness of the actress.
Salman Khan is also behind Daisy's fit body
Well, you know that there are many such actors in Bollywood to whom Bhaijaan i.e. Salman Khan gave a chance in films. Daisy Shah is also one of them. But do you know, Salman Khan is also behind Daisy's fit body?
Yes, Salman's personal trainer Rakesh Uddiyar has been guiding Daisy in fitness matters for the last 9 years. Not only this, Salman Khan also sometimes keeps an eye on the workout routine of his 'Jai Ho' actress.
Mix workout of cardio, lower body and strength training exercises
When we reached Gym Reset, Daisy was doing a cardio workout. These days she is focusing more on her lower body. Daisy says, personally, I enjoy doing lower body training more. Also, running on a treadmill increases speed.
It helps in burning calories faster than aerobic exercise and other exercises. I practice a mix workout of cardio, lower body and strength training exercises in the gym.
I have been taking care of fitness for 15 years
Daisy says, I have been taking care of my fitness for the last 15 years. I like to do mixed workouts – sometimes Pilates, sometimes cardio, sometimes EMS (Electrical Muscle Stimulation) and sometimes dance. The reason for this is so that I don't get bored. I work very hard on my body. Keeping myself fit has now become my habit.
In one day I used to go to three places in Mumbai to teach dance.
Daisy told, since childhood I was inclined towards dance. I had joined the dance group since my college days. At that time I never looked at dance from the point of view of fitness. I used to dance only for money. I still remember, as an assistant choreographer, I used to do 3 shifts in a day.
In one day I used to go to three different places in Mumbai to teach dance. At that time I did not get any chance to rest. I used to rest as much as I got time between one location and another. Today, when I look back, I realize how much my dance background has affected my fitness.
Well, I have been very active in dance since the beginning, although at that time I never looked at it from the point of view of my fitness. Thankfully, I later got involved in a field where it was very important for me to look physically fit. Now there is no better exercise for me than dancing. This has become my fitness mantra.
I enjoy dancing very much. In this form you perform with your own body weight. No matter how much cardio you do, the stamina that is built through dance form will not be achieved by any cardio exercise.
Work out as much as your body allows
I remember, when I joined the gym for the first time, like everyone else, I was very excited. I worked out with great enthusiasm and the very next day I developed fever. I did not go to the gym for three days and then on the fourth day I gathered courage and joined the gym.
Then I learned a lesson that you should work out as much as your body allows. Otherwise you will spoil your next few days. It has happened with me too that many times I have paid the gym fees for the whole year but I am not able to go.
Actually, the reason for this was not my laziness, but due to work commitments I had to take a break. Didn't get time to go to gym. Now, it seems like the gym has become a habit for me. If I don't go to the gym even for a day, I feel depressed.
I believe that there are many ways to stay fit, such as dancing, taking out some time for yourself, going for a walk, doing basic exercises. Do any activity, just keep in mind that you have to keep your body physically active. Try to find 30-40 minutes for yourself every day.
Salman changed the definition of fitness
Salman Khan is my mentor. He is always there for me. I consider myself lucky that I have Salman Khan in my life, who has shown me the path. Not only in career but also in personal life. Ever since he came into my life, the definition of fitness has completely changed. He told me the importance of fitness. My trainer, Rakesh, is also a contribution of Salman Khan. He introduced me to Rakesh.
I will always remember one thing he said – Daisy, the day you start working on yourself, the world will start watching you. Following his advice, I started keeping myself happy instead of trying to keep others happy and today I feel very positive.
Salman Khan can do 1500 pushups, 500 squats at a time
Salman Khan is very serious about his fitness. My hands and legs start aching after watching his workouts. He is an extremist when it comes to workout. Believe me, he can do 1500 pushups at a time. Not only this, he can do 500 squats simultaneously.
I always call him 'superhuman'. Whenever we train with him, I definitely get sick. He continues with his workout and I leave it midway. During the time of 'Jai Ho', I used to work out twice a day for two hours. By 'Race 3' my body had become quite fit. By that time I had understood my body type. At the time of 'Race 3', I knew what I had to do so that I look fit on screen.
Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani are my fitness icons
I am crazy about the fitness of Deepika Padukone and Disha Patani. The way she maintains her physique and walks is really praiseworthy. I have seen how dedicated she is to her fitness, how she works out in the gym, how healthy she is and how much healthy food she eats.
I am Gujarati and I love food.
I am Gujarati, I love food. There came a time when I thought what was the point of working so hard on my fitness? At that time, I used to eat whatever came to my mind – cake, chocolate… everything. I would like to thank my trainer and Salman Khan who showed me the importance of being consistent in my work.
It is very important to have protein in my diet. I like to have 4-5 healthy meals a day. Breakfast includes fruits, boiled eggs or blueberries. For lunch, I have green vegetables, lentils, quinoa and millet or jowar roti, while for dinner I like to have vegetables, soup and salad.
I do yoga every day to keep myself mentally fit. Along with this, I also do aerial yoga, which helps in keeping the body flexible, better focus, stronger muscles and helps in removing stress.
Why do Bollywood celebs go to public gyms?
