In his career spanning 5 decades, veteran actor Ranjeet must have worked in more than 500 films. However, he got real recognition only for his negative roles.
In a recent interview, 82-year-old Ranjeet shared an anecdote related to the first negative role of his career. Ranjeet told that when his mother saw him in a negative role for the first time in the film Sharmilee, she threw him out of the house.

'Mother said- How dare you come inside the house?'
In an interview given to Radio Nasha, Ranjeet said- 'There was a scene in the film Sharmilee in which I force myself with Rakhi. After watching this my family came out of the theatre. When I reached home in the evening, mother asked me how dare you come inside the house? You tear women's clothes, what kind of work is this? Get out of my house.

Mother started crying after seeing Rakhi: Ranjeet
After this, Ranjeet convinced his co-actress Rakhi to go home and explain to his mother that all this was not real but was a part of the shooting. Ranjeet said- 'Rakhi ji was very beautiful. When she reached home with me, my mother started crying after seeing her. He said to Rakhi- 'Be annihilated, my son. I apologize to you. Later, when Rakhi ji explained to my mother, she forgave me.
Shashi Kapoor and Rakhi played lead roles in the film Sharmili, released in 1971. Ranjeet played the role of villain in this.
