Started modeling at the age of 18

Siddharth was born in a Punjabi, Hindu family of Delhi. His father Sunil Malhotra was in the Merchant Navy while his mother Reema is a housewife. Siddharth's early education took place in Don Bosco School and Naval Public School, Delhi. He graduated from Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, Delhi.

Siddharth started modeling at the age of 18 for pocket money. Due to good looks and excellent physique, Siddharth got a lot of success in modeling. Her first fee in modeling was seven thousand rupees which she gave to her mother because till then she did not have any personal bank account.

Left modeling to earn name in acting

Sidharth also won 'The Gladrags Mega Model' and 'The Manhunt Pageant' in modelling. After earning name in modeling for four years, Siddharth got bored with it and decided to leave modeling. Wanting to become an actor, he came to Mumbai from Delhi.

Siddharth had said in an interview, 'When I went to college after school, I thought that I will do MBA like my brother did and I will get a job in finance. But then during college, I became interested in modeling and after that I got bitten by the bug of working in Bollywood.

According to Siddharth, the decision to come to Mumbai from Delhi was difficult because it was not easy for him to make a place in Mumbai without any godfather.

One year of preparation, first film closed

After coming to Mumbai, Siddharth started the process of giving auditions. There were failures many times. Siddharth wanted to work in films but it was not so easy. Meanwhile, he got a chance to make his acting debut in 2006 with the TV serial 'Dharti Ka Veer Yoddha Prithviraj Chauhan'.

Siddharth played the role of Jaichand in this serial. During this time, Siddharth auditioned for a film of director Anubhav Sinha and was selected for the lead role in it, but the film was closed before it was made.

Siddharth had said about this in an interview, 'After several rounds of auditions, the makers told me that they will train us. Two more actors were to play lead roles in the film. Apart from acting and dancing workshops, physical improvement workshops were conducted for a year but later it was realized that this project would not go ahead. Then I told the team that I was terminating the contract with them.

After this incident I did not meet Anubhav Sinha. When I was an assistant director in 'My Name is Khan', Anubhav definitely came to meet me because he had to meet Shahrukh sir. After this we never met.

Became assistant director in 'My Name is Khan'

Siddharth was very disappointed after Anubhav Sinha's film got canned, after which he joined Karan Johar's film 'My Name is Khan' as an assistant director. He got this opportunity because of fashion designer Manish Malhotra because during his modeling days, Siddharth had walked the ramp in fashion shows for many designers.

Manish himself asked Karan to give work to Siddharth as an assistant director. Varun Dhawan also worked as an assistant director in this film.

Siddharth had said in an interview, it was becoming difficult to survive in Mumbai and then I was looking for a job. I never thought that I would become an assistant director but I did. Life has taught me a lot.

Recently, Karan Johar had mentioned a funny incident related to the shooting of 'My Name is Khan' in his chat show Koffee with Karan Season 8. He had played a video message from filmmaker Karan Malhotra in which it was revealed that Varun and Siddharth used to flirt a lot with the girls of the costume department during the shooting.

Got 'Student of the Year' after three days of audition

'My Name is Khan' was released in 2010 and two years later in 2012, Siddharth's first film as a hero 'Student of the Year' was released. But how did Siddharth get a chance to work under the direction of Karan Johar in his very first film?

Actually, on the set of 'My Name is Khan' everyone knew that Siddharth had to become a hero. When Dharma Productions announced the film 'Student of the Year', people advised Siddharth to audition for it. Siddharth did the same.

The audition lasted for three days and Siddharth was selected for the lead role in the film. Till then Siddharth had no idea that Karan Johar himself would direct this film.

Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt also made their debut with the film. Siddharth played the role of Abhimanyu Singh in it. The film was a hit and did a business of Rs 109 crore at the box office. It is believed that Siddharth and Kiara grew closer during the shooting of 'Shershaah' but in reality it is not so. Their first meeting was in 2018 at the wrap-up party of the film 'Lust Story'. Siddharth had reached here on the invitation of Karan Johar while Kiara was the heroine of this film.

After the very first meeting, both of them crashed the party and left the place. After this, both of them were seen together many times, although both of them described their relationship as only friendship. Meanwhile, the shooting of the film 'Shershaah' took place due to which both came closer.
