It is bone-chilling cold in UP. On Monday, the minimum temperature in Meerut, Muzaffarnagar and Churk remained slightly above 3 degrees Celsius. Whereas Fatehgarh and Kanpur experienced the harshest cold during the day where the maximum mercury was a record 9.7 degrees and 10.2 degrees respectively, which was about 10 degrees below normal. There was severe cold in the capital Lucknow on Monday night and the day temperature in Lucknow was 15 degrees and the night temperature was recorded at 7.4 degrees. The entire state is in the grip of dense fog.
