The accident occurred after colliding with a vehicle parked outside Sarojini Nagar police station.

On Saturday morning, on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, the speeding car rammed into a container parked on the roadside in front of Sarojini Nagar police station due to the driver dozing off. The front part of the container was completely damaged after the car rammed into it. Hearing the screams of the people trapped in the car, the police station and passers-by gathered. The fire brigade personnel cut the body of the vehicle with a cutter and pulled out the injured in about thirty minutes. Devi Deen Nagar (70), a retired security officer from the Secretariat, died in the accident. Five members of the family traveling in it were seriously injured.
