Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayana' has once again come into limelight amidst the consecration of Ram temple in Ayodhya. Many facts related to its shooting days have come to light. Ramanand Sagar's son Prem Sagar told during an interview that late actor Dara Singh, who played Hanuman in the show, did not eat anything for 9 hours.

Actually, due to her character she had to do heavy make-up. He told that Dara Singh's makeup took about 3 to 4 hours. Because in those days there was no prosthetic makeup. He also had to wear a tail for the role of Hunman. Due to this he could not even sit properly. A special stool was made for him on the set. There was a cut in the stool, in which he could sit with the help of his tail.

Not only this, Prem Sagar also said that his father Ramanand Sagar used to work with great dedication. He used to wake up at 4 in the morning and shoot.

There was a problem in the make-up of the monkey army.

Prem Sagar told that in those days the biggest problem was for the monkey army. Because about 500 people were required for the monkey army. There was a lot of problem in doing makeup for all of them. He said- When the scene of Lanka Dahan had to be done, our team had to deliberate a lot. The problem was that there was a lot of risk in setting fire to the tail made of rope. So we had to call an artisan and get a special tail made for that scene.

At that time Dara Singh ji had to remain hungry for 6 hours every day. During this scene, he spent many hours for 7 days and then it was shot.

Ramayana started in 1987
The telecast of Ramayana started on Doordarshan on 25 January 1987 and the last episode was seen on 31 July 1988. This serial used to air on TV every morning at 9.30 am. The popularity of the serial increased so much that whenever it came on TV, there was silence everywhere. There used to be curfew like situations outside the houses. Ramanand Sagar himself did not believe that the serial made by him would become so historic. The actors working in this serial started being considered like God.
