Sunil Lahiri, who played Lakshman in Ramayana, has told some interesting things about Dara Singh. He told that at the age of 62, Dara Singh had lifted Sunil Lahiri weighing 70 kg on his shoulders. He did not even use a stool for this.
Let us tell you, Sunil Lahiri was seen in the role of Laxman and Dara Singh in the role of Hanuman in the TV show Ramayana.
Dara Singh has always been an inspiration – Sunil Lahiri
In an interview given to News 18, Sunil Lahiri shared some stories from the shooting of the TV show Ramayana. He said, 'Dada Singh had to carry me on his shoulders in a scene in Ramayana. At that time I was 70 kg. In such a situation, I told him that we will use the stool for shooting this scene and will cut it later in editing. But he refused to do so.
Imagine, at the age of 62 many people are not able to even walk properly. Whereas Dara Singh had lifted me on his shoulders. Get a lot of inspiration from him. I have been greatly influenced by him since childhood. Shooting with him was an amazing experience.
A funny incident happened on the sets of Ramayana
Sunil Lahiri also shared another interesting incident related to the set. He said, 'One day during the shooting, I was given a chair to sit and Dara Singh was given a stool. I respected him a lot, so I offered him my chair to sit. When I offered him the chair, at first he refused. But, when I offered again, he said – Oye, Tenu, I didn't know that I was interested. I can't sit on the chair.
When Ramayana was broadcast, there would be silence on the streets.
The TV show Ramayan was created by Ramanand Sagar. In the serial, Arun Govil played the role of Ram, Deepika Chikhaliya played the role of Sita, Arvind Trivedi played the role of Ravana, Sunil Lahiri played the role of Laxman and Dara Singh played the role of Hanuman. Ramayana was first telecast on Doordarshan on 25 January 1987. Its last episode aired on 31 July 1988. There were a total of 87 episodes in this serial.
The popularity of the serial increased so much that whenever it came on TV, there was silence everywhere. There used to be curfew like situations outside the houses. Ramanand Sagar himself did not believe that the serial made by him would become so historic.
