Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma has accused car designer Dilip Chhabria of illegally withdrawing money from him and not returning his Rs 5.31 crore. Mohammed Hamid, who is Kapil's representative, has filed a case against Dileep in a money laundering case. Apart from Kapil, Chhabria has also been accused of cheating many other famous personalities.
Kapil Sharma was defrauded of crores of rupees in the vanity van case.
what is the whole matter
According to the statement given by Mohammed Hamid (Kapil's representative), Kapil Sharma had approached car designer Dilip Chhabria in December 2016 to order a customized vanity van. At that time, the price of the vanity van (excl. taxes) was around Rs 4.5 crore. In March 2017, a deal was signed between K9 Productions and Dilip Chhabria's DC Design Pvt. Ltd. Kapil Sharma paid Rs 5.31 crore (including taxes) to Dilip.
Why couldn't the delivery be done?
Hamid said that DC Design Private Limited (Dilip Chhabria's company) could not provide a vanity van to Kapil. He also did not return Rs 5.31 crore. When Hamid asked about the delay in delivery of the vanity van, Dilip told him that he had purchased all the interior items and it was kept in the warehouse.
To confirm this, Hamid also visited Dilip's Pune branch to know the current status of the van. Where Dilip told about his financial crisis and asked for more money from Kapil. He then sent an additional quotation of Rs 54,20,800 to the comedian and asked for funds for the delivery of the vanity van.
When Dilip asked Kapil for this money, doubt arose in Kapil's mind. When Kapil asked Dilip Chhabria about this, he did not answer properly. After this Dilip started sending mails to Kapil. Dilip accused Kapil of not inspecting the van on time. He told that this is the reason why the delivery of the vanity van is getting delayed.
Kapil Sharma sent notice
This behavior of Dilip Chhabria forced Kapil to take legal route against the car designer. After this, Kapil sent a legal notice of recovery to the designer's firm on April 18, 2019. In such a situation, Chhabria adopted illegal methods to extort money from Kapil. Sometimes he demanded arbitrary parking charges for non-delivered vanity van and sometimes a loan for his sister's company. Even demanded payment to the vendors.

ED has recorded this statement of Kapil's representative Mohammad Hamid in the charge sheet filed against Dilip Chhabria in the money laundering case. The ED case is based on three more FIRs lodged against Kapil as well as Dilip.
The ED accused Dileep and his company of knowingly indulging in illegitimate means to raise funds for their personal gains. Apart from this, all the complainants have also been accused of causing a loss of Rs 18.13 crore. ED said that through money trails it has been proved that the money taken from the crime was looted by the main accused through illegal means.
