Actor Satyaraj became famous in every household by playing the role of Kattappa in the film 'Baahubali' released in 2015. But do you know that the first choice for this role for the makers was Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt?
Giving information about this, V Vijayendra Prasad, father of 'Baahubali' director Rajamouli and writer of the film, said that he wanted to cast Sanjay in the film but Sanju was in jail at that time. In such a situation, the second option for the makers was Satyaraj.
Sanjay recently played the role of a villain in the South film 'Leo'.
Prabhas was the first choice for 'Bahubali'
In an interview, Prasad had said, 'Prabhas was our first choice for the role of Bahubali in the film. Similarly, we wrote the character of Kattappa keeping Sanjay Dutt in mind. But since he was in jail at that time, it was not possible to cast him. In such a situation, we had Satyaraj as the second option.
Bahubali The Beginning, released in 2015, did a business of Rs 600 to 650 crore at the worldwide box office.
Rajamouli wanted powerful female characters
Prasad further said, 'My son (Rajamouli) told me that he wants to make a film. He wanted it to be a costume drama with some good action scenes to be shot. He also wanted to introduce some powerful female characters and also some gray characters.
The script was prepared in 4 to 5 months
After this, Prasad first wrote the character of Kattappa for the film. He further said, 'The next morning I gave a small introduction of the character of Kattappa to Rajamouli. After this I narrated them another scene in which a mother tries to cross the river with her child in her lap. This scene narrated became the opening scene of this superhit franchise. After this, the script of this film was prepared in 4 to 5 months.
Bahubali 2, released in 2017, did a business of Rs 1,810 crore at the worldwide box office. It is the second highest grossing film of the country after Dangal.
Baahubali, released in 2015, and Baahubali 2, released in 2017, are among the highest-grossing films of Indian cinema. Apart from Prabhas and Satyaraj, the film had many actors including Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia and Ramya Krishnan.
