When Amitabh Bachchan took Tridandi Sannyasa
In an old interview, Amitabh Bachchan told that he had taken Tridandi Sannyasa for 41 days. During this time a person has to follow many strict rules. Amitabh Bachchan said- There is a place in Kerala, Sabarimala. Swami Ayyappa is present there. One has to fast for 41 days for Swami Ayyappa. During this fast one wears saffron colored clothes. One has to abstain from alcohol and non-vegetarian food. Even a person cannot live a family life during that time. The person has to sleep on the ground. One has to walk barefoot. You can't wear shoes. Then you have to set out on a journey to Sabarimala. To offer prayers one has to go to Sabari Malai, which is situated on top of the mountain. The road to reach there is rocky. In such a situation you have to walk forty miles barefoot.

Told the reason for keeping Tridandi Sannyasa
Amitabh Bachchan was asked why he had observed this fast? On this, Amitabh Bachchan said that he observed this fast only out of devotion. No vow was made. One of his friends was observing this fast and hence Amitabh also observed this fast.

Let us tell you, at the time of this interview, Amitabh Bachchan was busy shooting for the film 'Sharabi'. The film 'Sharabi' was released in 1984 and proved to be a blockbuster.
