Puneeth Rajkumar also worked in only Kannada films.
Actor Darshan once said that he does not want to ride the trend of pan-India films and wants to stay within the reach of the Kannada audience.
In the expansive world of cinema, where actors and celebrities intend to go bigger with the reach of their films, few actors in the Kannada entertainment industry prefer to stay true to their region, language, and audience. Despite being offered projects in other languages, these actors dedicated their entire careers to Kannada films only. Among these actors, the first name that shined bright in the industry is Dr Rajkumar. He was an Indian actor, singer, and producer. Throughout a five-decade-long career, the megastar worked in over 200 films. Following him are a few actors who do not intend to go pan-India or work in the film of other languages. Let’s take a look at the names of these actors:
Speaking about the Kannada stars, one cannot miss Darshan whose recently released film Kaatera earned widespread applause for the actor’s performance. Over an impressive 26 years, the actor has covered a journey from a modest light technician to being known as a Challenging Star. Known for his rare ability to capture hearts and inspire a legion of dedicated fans, Darshan does not want to ride the trend of pan-India films and wants to stay within the reach of the Kannada audience. He once said, “My focus remains here; I’ve never felt the urge to venture into pan-Indian projects. I believe regional films should reach a pan-Indian audience rather than my presence expanding into other languages.” Darshan continues to hone his skills, captivating the audience with his every film.”
Next comes Puneeth Rajkumar who etched a mark in the hearts of the audience for his incredible contribution to Kannada cinema. Puneeth made his acting debut as a lead actor in the film, Appu (2002), directed by critically-acclaimed filmmaker, Puri Jagannadh. Puneeth appeared as a lead in 32 films in a career spanning three decades. Notably, all these films were made in Kannada region for the Kannada audience. In October 2021, at the age of 46, the actor left for his heavenly abode, leaving his fans disheartened.
Golden Star Ganesh is also one of the actors who, in a career spanning over 15 years, never thought about his reach and popularity. Rather, he entertained the Kannada audience only. However, the actor, last year, embarked on a new journey as he signed his first pan-India film backed by Vikhyath Production House.
Prem Kumar, also known as Prem, is also a popular Kannada actor. The actor entered the entertainment world with his debut film Praana. However, he shot to fame with the film Nenapirali for which he even bagged his first Filmfare Award for Best Actor.
