Ravichandran Ashwin is the second fastest t reach the landmark of 100 wickets and 1000 runs against a single international team.
Ravichandran Ashwin became the first Indian to take 100 wickets as well as score 1000 runs against a single international team as he reached the incredible feat against England in the fourth Test of the five-match series at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.

Jonny Bairstow, who smashed the Indian bowlers, was trapped by Ravichandran Ashwin after scoring a 35-ball 38 with four boundaries and a six.
1000 runs and 100 wickets against England in Tests
- George Giffen vs England – 3214 runs and 102 wickets
- Mony Noble vs England – 1905 runs and 115 wickets
- Garfield Sobers vs England – 1238 runs and 103 wickets
- R Ashwin vs England – 1085* runs and 100* wickets
England’s Wilfred Rhodes, Ian Botham and Stuart Broad all have taken 100 wickets and scored 1000 runs against Australia.
In fact, only Ian Botham reached the mark in fewer matches than Ashwin, 22 Tests as compared to the Indian’s 23.
Ashwin is the second bowler after James Anderson and the first Indian to take 100 wickets in India-England test matches.
Ashwin had to leave during the third Test in Rajkot, to his hometown in Chennai due to a medical emergency, and that too mere hours after reaching the coveted milestone of 500 Test wickets on the second day of the 3rd Test match.
