Shahid Kapoor's pain spilled over: Despite being Pankaj Kapoor's son, he struggled in the film industry, said – character actors have no strength

Shahid Kapoor's recent film Tera Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya has been liked a lot by the audience. Shahid has been active in the film world for more than 20 years. In a recent interview, he has revealed that despite being the son of veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor, he did not get any benefit in the industry.

Initially worked as a background dancer
In 2003, Shahid made his Bollywood debut with the film Ishq Vishk. Before his first film, he had come a long way of struggle. He worked as a background dancer in films like Dil To Pagal Hai and Taal. Recently, in Neha Dhupia's chat, Shahid Kapoor talked about film struggles. He said that despite being the son of Pankaj Kapoor, he had to start his career like a common struggler.

He said, 'Everyone used to say that he is Pankaj Kapoor's son. But the truth is that side artist actors do not have any power. Only superstars and big film directors-producers have power. He said this because Pankaj Kapoor was seen in side roles in most of the films.

In the conversation, Shahid said that initially he never told anyone that he was Pankaj Kapoor's son. After the separation of his parents, he lived with his mother. After signing the first film, he told his father about it.

Shahid does not want to achieve anything on his father's strength
Shahid says that he only takes necessary advice from his father. He did not want to achieve anything in the industry in his name. He believes that he deserves only what he has achieved through hard work.

Father and son have worked together in films
This father-son duo has also been seen in films. Shahid and Pankaj Kapoor first worked together in the 2011 film Mausam. The film was directed by Pankaj himself. While Shahid played the lead role with Sonam Kapoor. Later, both of them worked together in the 2015 film Shaandaar and the 2022 film Jersey.

Talking about Shahid's work front, he was recently seen in the film Teri Baton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya. Kriti Sanon was seen opposite him in the film. The film was released in theaters on 9 February. The film had a slow start at the box office but due to word of mouth, it managed to survive at the box office. The film has so far made a business of Rs 60.75 crore in India and has earned Rs 106 crore worldwide.

Among the upcoming projects, Shahid has one film each from Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Karan Johar.
