Bengaluru signboard comes with a traffic instruction, ‘Follow Someone Home’ but there’s more than you think.

In the maze of traffic signs that adorn the city streets, there are familiar reminders: “Keep speed limit low,” “Turn ahead,” and “Drive slow.” But amidst this commonplace array, have you ever stumbled upon an unexpected directive like “Follow Someone Home”? Yes, you read that right. It’s not a suggestion you’d typically expect from a municipal authority. Yet, for the denizens of Bengaluru, encountering such a signboard might not be as rare as you think.

Imagine driving along the streets and catching sight of this puzzling message. “Follow Someone Home.” It’s enough to make you do a double-take. An old photograph of this BBMP (Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike) signboard has recently resurfaced on ‘X’, shared by user @RaoSumukh with a caption that aptly reflects the bewilderment many must have felt: “Whoever thought this was a good sign to put up??? Reads so bad when driving past and you don’t see the text in the smaller font.”

But here’s the twist: upon closer inspection, the full message reveals itself – “Follow traffic rules. Someone is waiting at home for you.” The discrepancy lies in the font size, leading to a humorous misinterpretation that has surely elicited more than a few chuckles from passersby.

Take a Look:

Social media users were quick to react, turning the gaffe into fodder for online banter. “Follow Someone Home. Very nice and safe city,” quipped one user, adding a touch of irony to the situation. Others couldn’t help but see the humour in the unintended implications: “They are promoting something else,” joked another. Amidst the laughter, there were also cautionary voices, with one user musing, “If i were driving past, i would read it as “Follow someone home” and land in trouble.” The fourth added, “Memeworthy material.”

This isn’t the first time Bengaluru’s quirky sign boards have made waves online. A previous gem warned pedestrians of the perils of being “Smartphone Zombies,” likening avid phone users to oblivious creatures wandering the streets. Shared by a user with a hint of sarcasm, the image struck a chord with many, sparking a lively discussion about modern-day distractions and the need for greater awareness.
