Afghanistan will be without Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman as the pair continue to recover from injuries.

Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar, who starred for Afghanistan in the recent ICC Under-19 World Cup 2024 in South Africa, has earned a maiden call-up. Afghanistan though will once again be without Mujeeb ur Rahman (right phalanx sprain) and Rashid Khan (recovering after back surgery) for the three-match ODI series against Ireland starting on March 7.

With vacancies opening up in the spin department, Ghazanfar, whose mystery spin attracted attention at the U19 World Cup, alongside left-arm spinner Nangyal Kharoti earned call-ups to the squad.

“Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman continue to recover from their respective injuries and are unavailable for selection,” ACB Chief Selector Mr. Ahmad Shah Sulimankhil said.

“However, we have included some of the top-performing youngsters in Nangyal Kharoti and Bilal Sami. Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar is a very talented cricketer and has demonstrated excellent skills during the U19 World Cup. He will provide cover in Mujeeb Ur Rahman’s in the ODI series against Ireland.”
