Medal winners of Khelo India Games will get government jobs: Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said- decision taken to promote sports

Anurag Thakur said, this policy is an important step in supporting our athletes in making India a sports superpower.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said on Wednesday that players who win medals in all Khelo India competitions will be given government jobs.

Thakur said that this step has been taken by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to promote sports and see it as a career option.

The move will now make medal winners of the Khelo India Games – Youth, University, Para and Winter Games – eligible for government jobs, Thakur said in his post on X. Additionally, the games and events are clearly spelled out to ensure that the different games are within each game.

What are Khelo India Games?
Khelo India Games is one of the major initiatives of the government to promote sports and showcase India's youth sporting talent. It was started in the year 2018.

Under Khelo India Games, the government organizes Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG), Khelo India University Games (KIUG) and Khelo India Winter Games (KIWG). This year the government has also started Khelo India Para Games.
