Team India with the trophy for series victory
India defeated England by an innings and 64 runs in the Dharamsala Test. With this, Team India won the five-match Test series 4-1. England won the toss and chose to bat at the HPCA Stadium on Thursday.
In the first innings, England were all out for 218 runs and Team India for 477 runs. India got a lead of 259 runs in the second innings, England team was limited to 195 runs only. In this way the English team had to face defeat by an innings and 64 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin, playing his 100th Test, took 9 wickets in the match.
Won 17th series on home ground
This is India's 17th consecutive series win on home grounds in the last 12 years. The Indian team already holds the record of winning most consecutive series at home. Australia is at second position after winning 10 consecutive series at home.
The last time India had to face defeat in a Test series in home conditions was in 2012. Then England defeated India 2-1 in India. Since then, Team India has not lost any series at home and has defeated the rival team 17 consecutive times.
Team India won the 17th Test series on home ground.
Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets
Joe Root was out after scoring 84 runs in the second innings for England. Apart from Root, other batsmen could not do anything special, hence the team could not even score 259 runs. Ravichandran Ashwin took 5 wickets in the second innings for India. Jasprit Bumrah and Kuldeep Yadav took 2-2 wickets. Ravindra Jadeja got one wicket.

Ashwin is the Indian who took the maximum number of 5 wicket hauls in test.
Ravichandran Ashwin took his 36th 5 wicket haul in Test cricket by dismissing Ben Fox in the second innings. With this he has left Anil Kumble behind. Kumble has 35 five-wicket hauls in Test cricket. Ashwin has now reached the first position in terms of taking the most five-wicket haul for India.
Rohit-Gil's centuries
In the first innings for India, Shubhman Gill scored 110, Rohit Sharma scored 103, Yashasvi Jaiswal 57, Devdutt Padikkal scored 65 and Sarfaraz Khan scored 56 runs. Shoaib Bashir took 5 wickets from England. James Anderson and Tom Hartley took 2-2 wickets. Captain Ben Stokes also got one wicket.
Anderson completes 700 wickets
England's James Anderson completed 700 wickets in his Test career by dismissing Kuldeep Yadav in the first innings. He became the first fast bowler in the world to do so. Among spinners, Australia's Shane Warne (708) and Sri Lanka's Muttiah Muralitharan (800) have taken more wickets than him.

Crowley scored a half-century in the first innings for England, Kuldeep took 4 wickets.
England could score only 218 runs in the first innings. Jack Crawley was out after scoring 79 runs in the first innings for England. The rest of the batsmen could not do anything special, so the team was all out after scoring 218 runs. Kuldeep Yadav took 5 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin took 4 wickets in the first innings for India. Ravindra Jadeja also got a success.
Half of England's team returned to the pavilion in the first session on the third day.
With the dismissal of English captain Ben Stokes, half the team has returned to the pavilion on the score of 103 runs. Ben Stokes was bowled by Ashwin. He faced 10 balls and scored 2 runs. Ashwin now has four wickets in the second innings also. With this wicket the umpire declared lunch.
Shoaib Bashir scored 13 runs, he was bowled by Ravindra Jadeja.
Bumrah and Ashwin reconciled after lunch
Joe Root kept one end after the lunch session. But Ravichandran Ashwin took 2 wickets in front of him. Jasprit Bumrah also put England on the back foot by LBWing Tom Hartley and Mark Wood. Jadeja bowled Shoaib Bashir.
In the end, Kuldeep Yadav got Joe Root caught out by Bumrah on the score of 84 runs. With this wicket, the England team was reduced to a score of 195 runs.
