Jason Roy withdraws from IPL-2024: KKR includes Phil Salt in the team; Season will start from March 22

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) has appointed Phil Salt as the replacement for Jason Roy for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Roy has withdrawn his name citing personal reasons. Last year, 27-year-old Salt, who played for Delhi Capitals, remained unsold. The franchise has included him for Rs 1.5 crore.
This wicketkeeper batsman had scored two consecutive T20 International centuries against West Indies last year. By scoring a century in 48 balls in Trinidad, he equaled the world record of scoring the fastest century for England.
Salt scored two fifties last season
Phil Salt was a part of Delhi Capitals last season. He scored 218 runs with the help of 2 fifties in 9 matches. During this period his strike rate was 163.91.
KKR will play its first match against Hyderabad on March 23.
KKR team will start its IPL campaign on March 23 against Sunrisers Hyderabad at its home ground. There will be three team matches in the first phase. The team's second match will be against Royal Challengers Bangalore on March 29 in Bengaluru and against Delhi Capitals on April 3 in Visakhapatnam.
The upcoming season of the Indian Premier League will start on March 22. The first match will be played between defending champion Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai.
