Hasaranga may be out of the initial matches of IPL: included in Sri Lanka Test team; retired last year

Hasaranga made his Test cricket debut in 2020 against South Africa in Centurion.

Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga has returned from Test retirement and has been named in the 17-man squad for the two-match series in Bangladesh. Due to this, he may be out of the initial matches of IPL also.

The Test series between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will run from 22 March to 3 April. The first Test will start from March 22 in Sylhet while the second match will be played in Chittagong from March 30. Hasranga will not play IPL during this period.

Hasranga is part of SRH
Hasaranga is part of the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) team. He joined the team at the base price of Rs 1.50 crore only. Hyderabad will play matches on 23, 27, 31 March and 5 April. It is expected that Hasaranga will be available for the fourth match.

Took retirement in August 2023
Hasaranga had announced his Test retirement in August 2023 to focus on his ODI and T20 career. Less than a year before the T20 World Cup, he became the captain of the national team in the shortest format.

Hasaranga made his Test cricket debut in 2020 against South Africa in Centurion. He played only four Test matches, in which he took four wickets. Hasaranga played his last Test match in 2021 against Bangladesh in Pallekele.

Till now he has played 54 ODIs and 65 T20s for Sri Lanka.
Hasaranga has so far played 54 ODIs and 58 T20s for Sri Lanka. He scored 895 runs and took 84 wickets in ODIs. Whereas, while playing the role of finisher in T-20, he scored 650 runs and took 104 wickets with the ball.
