The first double header (2 matches in a day) of the tournament will be played today.
In the first match, Punjab Kings will face Delhi Capitals in Mohali from 3:30 pm. In the second match, two-time champion Kolkata Knight Riders will face 2016 champion Sunrisers Hyderabad. In the story we will know about the second match…
The captains of both the teams will take command for the first time
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) played the first match in IPL history in 2008. In which Brendon McCullum played an inning of 158 runs for the team. Since then the team has won the title twice in 2012 and 2014 and was the runner-up in 2021. Now the team will come under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, who will take command of KKR for the first time. He has captained Delhi before.
On the other hand, 2016 champion Sunrisers Hyderabad started playing IPL in 2013. Earlier, the name of Hyderabad city team was Deccan Chargers, which won the title in 2009 under the captaincy of Adam Gilchrist. After this, in 2016, David Warner made the team champion. Now Pat Cummins of Australia will lead Hyderabad, on whose shoulders is the responsibility of taking the team to the finals after 8 years. Cummins will captain the IPL for the first time.
Russell top wicket taker against Hyderabad
Andre Russell of Kolkata has taken 17 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Which is highest for Kolkata. After him, Sunil Narine has 11 wickets in his name, but for this he had to play 22 matches.
Vice captain Nitish Rana is on top among the batsmen. He has scored 537 runs in 15 matches. After him Manish Pandey has scored 351 runs in 14 matches. These four players can shine against Hyderabad even today.
Bhuvneshwar takes a lot of wickets against Kolkata
Hyderabad's lead pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has 32 wickets in his name in 27 matches against Kolkata. Which is the highest in IPL. If Hyderabad wants to win today, it is very important for Bhuvi to walk. After him, Thangarasu Natarajan has taken 11 wickets in only 7 matches.
Rahul Tripathi and Mayank Agarwal are on top among the batsmen. Both have scored 308-308 runs against Kolkata. Both also have 2-2 fifties against KKR.
Kolkata ahead in head to head
So far 25 matches have been played in IPL between Kolkata and Hyderabad. 9 were won in Hyderabad and 15 were won in Kolkata. There was also a tie between the two.
Hyderabad's record at the Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata is even worse. The team played 9 matches here and could win only 3. On home ground, Kolkata has won 47 out of 81 i.e. 54% matches.
pitch report
Kolkata's pitch proves helpful for both spin and pace bowlers. But last season a lot of runs were scored here. There were helpful pitches for the batsmen, but this time spin may dominate here. Because the home team has top class spinners like Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine and Suyyash Sharma.
