Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) by 31 runs in the 8th match of the season in the Indian Premier League-2024. Mumbai won the toss and chose to bowl at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday. Hyderabad scored 277 runs for 3 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Mumbai Indians team could score only 246 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
Before the match, Sachin Tendulkar gave the jersey to former MI captain Rohit Sharma. At the same time, three half-centuries were scored from Hyderabad side. Out of this, Abhishek Sharma scored one half century, he completed the fastest half century for SRH by hitting six. Top moments of the match…
1. Sachin gave special jersey to Rohit
Before the match, former MI captain Rohit Sharma received a special jersey from Sachin Tendulkar. Rohit is playing his 200th match for Mumbai Indians, that is why Tendulkar gifted him the jersey. Rohit is one of the most successful captains of the IPL and has been a part of the team for over a decade. The number '200' is written along with Rohit's name on the back of MI's special jersey.
Rohit Sharma has been a part of the MI franchise since 2011.
2. Tim David dropped the catch of Travis Head
Tim David dropped the catch of Travis Head on the very first ball of the second over of SRH's innings. Head played a shot towards the front on Hardik's ball, the ball went through the hands of Tim David who was deployed in the field and went towards the boundary. Head then scored a half-century in 18 balls and played an innings of 62 runs.
Tim David gave life to Travis Head on the score of 9 runs.
3. Abhishek completed his half-century by hitting a six.
SRH batsman and player of the match Abhishek Sharma completed his half-century by hitting a six in the 10th over. Kwena Mafaka came to bowl in the 10th over. On the third ball of the over, Abhishek hit a six on the front sightscreen and completed his half century. Abhishek played an inning of 63 runs in 23 balls.
Abhishek Sharma scored his fourth half-century in IPL.
4. Rohit missed the catch from Samad
SRH player Abdul Samad dropped the catch of Rohit Sharma. Shahbaz Ahmed bowled a short pitch ball on the last ball of the fourth over, on which Rohit Sharma tried to hit a big shot. However, he missed it badly and the ball went past mid-on.
Abdul Samad, standing at mid-on, ran backwards and came under the ball, but the ball fell out of his hand and Rohit got a lease of life. Rohit was out after scoring 26 runs.
Abdul Samad gave life to Rohit Sharma on the score of 20 runs.
5. Mayank Agarwal saved 5 runs on the boundary, fell on his head
In the 18th over of MI's innings, SRH fielder Mayank Agarwal made a brilliant dive to the boundary to save five runs for his team. Fast bowler Jaydev Unadkat bowled a slow bouncer, which MI captain Hardik Pandya tried to send across the boundary. However, Mayank Agarwal, standing at the boundary, showed great effort and saved a six for the team by jumping.
While saving these runs, Agarwal fell on his head. SRH's medical team came to the field to see him. However, concerns were soon allayed as he continued to field the last few overs.
Mayank Agarwal saved 5 runs for the team.
